Sowe Valley is a reading school and in Year 1 all children read at least once a week to the class teacher during guided reading sessions. This allows their fluency to be monitored and their comprehension skills to be developed. To support your child in making progress this year please ensure that you listen to them read regularly at home.

We have introduced an incentive across the school to encourage children's reading at home. Each time they read at home and have their reading record signed they will recieve a raffle ticket. At the end of term Mrs Carter will hold a prize draw of all the raffle tickets!
