School Clubs
In celebration of World Book Day, some of our teachers have shared their favourite stories for you to enjoy at home. These are available on your child’s Google Classroom stream and will soon be available to watch on our school website 🤩🤩📚 pic.twitter.com/PmGv35Ea24— Sowe Valley Primary School (@SoweVPrimary) March 8, 2024
At Sowe Valley we have a varied and exciting range of clubs and activities taking place most days throughout the year. We believe extra-curricular activities play a very important role in the life of our children and our school. We offer a variety of clubs and activities both at lunchtime and after school for our children to enjoy.
We also have a Golden Time which all children get the chance to take part in. In addition to this, we have music lessons available so children can learn a musical instrument.
Once the children have joined a club or signed up for a music lesson they are expected to attend regularly. Some clubs only run at certain times of the year, please contact the school office for more details.

Kirstie Smith from Step onto Stage Theatre Group delivers an afterschool drama club every Thursday evening. The club is open to children in Years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 initially. It takes place every week in the school hall from 3.15pm until 4.15pm.
During the club the children take part in a range of games and activities to help develop their stage skills. They work together to create and develop a performance to showcase to parents at the end of each term.
Afterschool Football Club
Sky Blues in the Community (the official charity arm of Coventry City Football Club) run a Football After School Club every Wednesday 3.15-4.15pm for children in Years 3 to 6.
Sky Blues After School Clubs open to boys and girls of all abilities and offer a fun introduction to football. They encourage and promote teamwork, respect and resilience. Each session aims to include a warm-up, skills and finishes with small-sided games or a match.
Sky Blues After School Clubs are delivered by FA Qualified and FA Licensed Coaches who have completed a DBS Check, FA Emergency First Aid Training and FA Safeguarding Training. They have a number of Core Values as a charity that inform how we operate, communicate and conduct ourselves on a daily basis and we are committed to making a difference to the live of people across Coventry & Warwickshire.
As a thank you and a momento for attending, all children will receive a Sky Blues medal and a CCFC Ticket Voucher for 1 adult + 1 child to attend a Coventry City FC Home League Fixture free of charge.
Afterschool Multi-Sports Club
Mrs Philips, our PE Coordinator runs a Multi-Games/Fitness Club every Tuesday, 3.15pm – 4.15pm. The club is open to children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. There are usually 20 places available.
The sessions may take place outside (weather permitting) so children may need a warm top/jogging bottoms/shorts to change into.
Activities include – tennis, dodgeball, cricket, rounders, athletics….
Lunchtime Code Club
Our ICT Technician Amanda runs Code Club sessions on Tuesday and Friday lunchtimes. This club is available to Key Stage 2 children. This club is run using the resources and projects from Code Club and Raspberry Pi Foundations.
At the club sessions, pupils follow the project guides specially created by Code Club. Our pupils will progress through the projects, to create games, animations, and web pages using Scratch, Python, or HTML/CSS.
Every term we have a themed competition where children can create there own projects in whichever form of coding they like.
